FALL 2024 UPDATE: Missions, Music, Ministry

FALL 2024 UPDATE: Missions, Music, Ministry

Wow! We have had a super busy summer of missions and ministry, logging over 60 days of travel between June 1 and October 6 leading, teaching, and making disciples in Christian worship. It’s been a great joy! By God’s grace and provision, we also donated guitars for every project. Here’s a brief recap:

BRAZIL, June 1-12 with Rick Bonfim Ministries, leading worship and special music for evangelistic crusades at Brazilian churches. This was one of the most intense and anointed missions I have participated in! We prayed for thousands of people. Also co-wrote “Come Alive,” a new song that seemed to connect with the people (release forthcoming).

See this blog post for more details and spiritual lessons from the June Brazil trip:

AFRICA, July 15 - August 2. I served as an instructor with Worship Quest Academy, a training program for pastors, worship leaders, church musicians, and seminary students. Our team ministered extensively with schools, villages, and churches in KENYA and UGANDA. At the WQA concert, attended by over 3000 children, over 100 kids received Jesus as their savior. In Kampala, we recorded with African musicians (and WQA graduates) my song “Let Everything That Has Breath Praise The Lord,” composed in Uganda.

See this blog post for more pics, videos and details about the Africa trip:

In August, Ivalene and I traveled home to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware to celebrate her sister’s birthday (Ivalene helped plan a fabulous party!) and visit with Mom and family. I also led worship and shared a missions update with God’s Gathering Place in Salisbury, MD, one of our wonderful supporting churches.

SPAIN, September 4-17 with SIM.org International. Ivalene and I traveled to Malaga to lead worship in multiple languages for missionaries from over twenty different countries for SIM’s Global Leadership Development intensive. Spain was an incredible experience!

CANADA, October 1-6 with SIM Canada, Spiritual Life Conference. This trip had a rough start with travel delays and lost baggage, which initially threw me off. However, when I heard the stories and met the missionaries behind SIM’s outreach inside of Canada to refugees, immigrant communities, Muslims, Hindus, and First Nation people groups, it was a missional paradigm shift for me. Inspiring!

The greatest joy for me has been that Ivalene and I were able to travel together for three international mission trips, something she had not been able to do for the last seven years due to health and other reasons. To travel and minister together feels like both a miracle and a resurrection. After the event in Canada, Ivalene and I celebrated our 42nd anniversary at beautiful Niagara Falls. Thanks be to God!

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. We can’t do this without you.

MUSIC UPDATE: New studio recording begins in November!

Proverbs 13:12 says, 'A longing fulfilled is a tree of life.' After a long wait, I’m finally heading back into the studio to record a brand-new project, “No Matter What.”

At its core, this album is about resilience—holding on by faith in Christ to the hope we have in God through life’s most difficult trials—no matter what comes our way.

In a noisy age filled with generic content, my hope is to craft a meaningful musical work of art that encourages and inspires.

Many folks have responded positively to these songs live. A few titles include:

  • Keep the Faith, God Is In Control
  • With God All Things Are Possible
  • The Best Is Yet to Come
  • Whosoever (Dad’s song)

I’m thrilled to collaborate with a group of dear friends, both old and new—stellar studio musicians on drums, bass, keys, and guitars—who will help bring this vision to life. By God’s grace, we’re planning an old-school, live recording session in mid-November to capture the unique energy of everyone playing together.

I’d love for you to be part of this project!
